Abstract

The application of the Cadiz Constitution of 1812 presented some complications in the overseas territories, since the change in the nature of some authorities and the establishment of new ones, made it necessary to resolve some doubts about their margin of operation, even reaching some issues to be resolved with the intervention of the central authorities in Spain. The case that concerns us in this work took place in 1821 in the territory that today corresponds to Mexico and is related to an alleged infraction of the Constitution that led to a conflict between the Audiencia of Nueva Galicia and the alcaldes constitucionales of Guadalajara.
