Abstract

The aim of this work is to study the beginning of the Valencian process towards home rule. The next celebration of the 40th anniversary of the issue of the Statute of Autonomy of the Valencian Community has led us to the analysis of the historical origins of this norm that, like the other statutes, is part of the constitutionality block. We focus on the events that occurred in 1976, when the Valencian democratic opposition coordinated its political action and tried to influence negotiations that ended up being constituents. Basically, digitalized funds from newspaper archives and other institutional archives have been consulted. Also, published monographs on what happened that year, made by the most prominent protagonists of the Valencian autonomist struggle. For the sake of ease of reading, all texts originally written in Valencian / Catalan have been translated into Spanish.
