The new historical period that begins with the French Revolution witnessed a deep transformation of the socio-political language, which was accompanied by equally profound changes in the political organization of the Spanish monarchy. One of the terms that saw crucially altered its semantic content is the concept of party, which over time would become fundamental in understanding the parliamentary government. Between the beginning of Modern Age and the restoration of absolute monarchy the foundations of further development of the concept of party were laid.
