During the Transition to democracy in Spain, the debates concerning the further Constitution of 1978 involved the participation of the main part of political forces. However, the last members of “historical” republicanism had no political representation in the Parliament. Its proposals and alternatives, always based on the 1931 republican Constitution, were left out of the public debate. This article analyzes, in fact, the internal debates and the constituent proposal of the last Spanish republicans, gathered in Acción Republicana Democrática Española.
