Abstract

Study on the exercise of the freedom of the press in Madrid during the constitutional regime of 1837, regulated by the jury trial system. First, it observes its application during Maria Cristina´s regency and notes the differences and discrepancies in its practice among the progressive and moderate, who came to power power. Secondly, it studies the formation of the press coalition that took place in Madrid during Baldomero Espartero´s regency. And, finally, it analyzes the suppression of the jury trial system as a result of the proposals of the conservatives.
